Republic Day, the day we bade farewell to the old Government of India Act from 1935 and embraced our very own Constitution on 26^th January 1949 and came into effect in 1950. From then on, Indian began its journey as ‘Purna Swaraj’.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the father of our Constitution and other leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Pate and others put together a document that still drive us towards brotherhood, growth and prosperity. When was the first Republic Day celebrated?

Well, it was celebrated on 26th January 1950 (but natural), a day etched in gold in India’s history. Dr. Rajendra Prasad took the oath as India’s first President, and the grandeur of the occasion set the stage for the Republic Day traditions we cherish today.
